Re: "The platform is not compatible with Intel(R) Widi..."

Hello,

I also had issues with Intel WiDi Software installation on my HP EliteBook HP8460p. According Intel lists my configuration is compatible. But when I try to install WiDi using Intel WiDi Update Tool message comes up with online link and when I clicked it opens the IE with Intel Message saying my computer is not compatible and not supporting Intel WiDi.

So I spend a few hours to figure out why? When all my laptop components are compatible.

Finally I founded the issue: HP Connection Manager and Intel wireless Driver from HP Download centre.

I did the following steps:

1. Go to Intel Website using IE and perform "Automatically scan your system for up-to-date drivers"

at this link: Intel Download Center

2. Manually downloaded all required drivers and save to folder

3. Installed all required Drivers and Reboot

4. Manually download Intel WiDi Software : Setup3.0.13.0 from here : Download Center

5. Installed WiDi Setup3.0.13.0 and Reboot

6. Open WiDi Software from my Desktop and click Agree on All terms and condition and Error PopUP saying

some DLL file missing. Try to Uninstall / Install the WiDi Software Still No good.

And From this point I decide to start from scratch as follow:

1. Remove (Uninstall) HP Connection Manager and Reboot

2. Remove (Uninstall) all Intel Wireless Software from my laptop.

3. From Control Panel / System / Device Manager under Network Adapters found and locate my Wireless Adapter Right Click and Select Uninstall then select Delete and confirm. Then Reboot (At this point you will lose all saved wireless connection so make sure you have all required Drivers Downloaded before you perform this step)

As someone mentioned on some of the above posts please make Sure you have downloaded Intel PROset Wireless Software for your Wireless Adapter, not only the Wireless Driver.

4. Install Intel PROset Wireless Software using Custom Installation select all modules to be Install. Complete and Reboot.

5. Install Intel WiDi Software Setup3.0.13.0. Complete and Reboot

6. Start Intel WiDi from your Desktop and Agree with Terms and Conditions (If you are agree of course). At this point everything was OK . Setup my Internet connection to connect to the internet.

7. Download latest WiDi Software Setup4.2.21.0 to upgrade the Intel WiDi Software from here : Download-Center

8. Run the Setup4.2.21.0 and apply the update then Reboot the Laptop

I think the main reason for this Errors is the conflict between the original Intel Drivers and Software with Laptop(PC) Manufacturer Modified Drivers and Software.(Of course only if all hardware modules are compatible for WiDi)

I hope this to be useful to any one with similar Issue.

Good Luck!!!
